about

The world is a very confusing place. Or at least that's what I was led to believe growing up.

When I finished college in the Spring of 2005, I thought there was more to life than what I had experienced. I flew to New Zealand to start my career in construction and to try and figure out what was missing from my life. In the first few weeks after I landed, I struggled to find a full-time job. Rethinking my game plan, I bought a $35 bicycle and planned to ride it around the country. I wanted a kind of a man versus nature type of thing to see what I was made of. I created globetrottr.com about the same time to document my experience as I explored the country and examined my thoughts.

Over 97 days, I covered 3197 kilometers. I also filmed 17 hours of the expedition and kept an extensive journal of my entire 9-month experience in New Zealand.

Now that I have returned from the trip and finished documenting the experience, I've found that life really isn't as complicated as we've made it out to be. I hope after you browse through some of the goodies on this site, you might agree.

Listed below are the elements of bananadog:

I'm in the middle of writing a book about what I learned during my trip to New Zealand. The book, also titled 'bananadog', should be finished shortly and will be posted here.

Over the past few years, I've come across some inspiring websites that got my creative juices going. Here's a list of my cyberspace-friends.

The original layout of globetrottr.com, including an extensive budget of the trip and a spaced-out blog I kept when I returned home to the United States in May 2006, can be found at the original globetrottr.com.

As soon as I finished buliding www.globetrottr.com, it started gaining publicity*. The media attention covering the beginning of the trip through the release of the movie, can be found below:
